Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!
The problem with Bible study and church these days? It’s become like Facebook – where everyone pretends everything’s perfect. Back in my early church days, that’s exactly what it was for me too. We’re living in the attention age now, and it’s all about who we’re paying attention to and who’s paying attention to us.
Here’s what bugs me: churches accidentally make folks feel like they need to have everything figured out before they show up. But my Pastor Dan Stone had it right – we’ve got the order all wrong. The world says you gotta behave, then believe, then belong. Nah. It should be belong first, then believe, then behave.
Come as you are, that’s what I say. Churches have hurt too many people by making them think they need to clean up their act before they’re welcome. We’ve got to flip the script – make people feel safe and welcome first. Sure, we’re all hypocrites with problems, but that’s exactly why church exists!
We need to create those small groups where we can be real – share our flaws, mistakes, and victories alike. I’m starting a Facebook group for Kingdom Family leaders, specifically for men who want to build genuine connections and community and guides us in following God’s plan for our lives. Let’s build a better world through real connection, where we can pay attention to each other and grow together.
You be blessed!
