Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!

TLDR: Discover how being truly in love with your vision can transform your goal-setting approach and drive incredible results. Learn why traditional goal-setting methods often fall short and how adding emotional connection to your life plan creates unstoppable motivation and fulfillment for Christian leaders.

What?
I recently had an incredible opportunity to meet with Jason Munson, a coach who specializes in neurology and understanding how our brains wire and connect things together. During our conversation, Jason shared a profound insight that completely shifted my perspective. Throughout my entire career as a camp counselor, ski racing coach, mindset coach, and Christian coach, I’ve been teaching about life planning, visualization, and the power of vision. I’ve even modified SMART goals to be WAY SMART goals (Written, Assessed, Yours) to make them more effective. But what Jason helped me realize was both simple and profound – when you’re truly in love with your vision, you’re naturally going to pursue it with passion.

Why?
This realization hit me so hard because it exposed a weak element in my approach to life planning and goal setting. In our Kingdom Family Leader work, we help men visualize and create inspired visions with powerful quotes to shape their life plans. “Loved” is so much stronger an emotion than “inspired”. We review these plans consistently, but I realized we never explicitly talked about falling in love with that vision. The emotional connection to your life plan, your life vision, and your direction is what creates the unstoppable momentum to bring it to reality.

Lesson
The key lesson here is that intellectual understanding and even regular review of your vision isn’t enough – you need an emotional connection that drives you forward naturally. When you’re in love with your vision, you don’t need excessive accountability or willpower because you’re drawn to it. This applies to every area of your life – your relationship with God, your family, your business, and your community impact. Looking back at the most successful periods in your life, you’ll likely find they were times when you were genuinely in love with what you were pursuing.

Apply
Take time today to close your eyes and remember a moment when you were completely in love with your vision – a time when you successfully completed a goal, realized a dream, or moved in a direction that fulfilled you. Feel the emotion of that moment. Then assess your current goals and activities: What are you not in love with that you should let go of? What are you not in love with that you need to fall in love with? Could you paint a more vivid picture around your vision to create that emotional connection? What are you building right now that you’re committed to falling in love with – something that will change your life, impact others, or make the world a better place?

You be blessed.
