Top of the mornin’ to ya, this is Brian at LifeChampion.coach. Got a little snow in Denver this week. Um, you should’ve seen it yesterday morning. The trees were just covered with that white frost. Driving to the gym was beautiful, amazing and inspiring.

This week I’m thinking about goals and goal setting. One of the things we do in life champion in our masterminds and coaching is really accountability, setting goals and achieving goals. One of the big factors in a goal is if it’s a W.A.Y. S.M.A.R.T. Goal, you’ve probably heard of S.M.A.R.T. Goals, at I’d Life Champion, we use W.A.Y. S.M.A.R.T. Goal
s and the W.A.Y. is for written, assessed and yours. And the question to think about today is what is the real reason for the goal? And a lot of times we can say, well, it’d be nice and that’s not gonna do it, it’s gotta be deeper than that.

So I’m using a drill down technique of why, what, how, why, what, how to really drill down while it’d be nice to weigh a hundred and fifty pounds. Well, why? Um, cause right now I weigh a 156. It used to be 185 so I’m doing well with that and I think it would be healthier to be, um, a more targeted weight. Well, why do you want to be healthy? I’m, I want to be around for my kids. Got a two year old up through an 18 year old and my wife, I want to be around for her to. Oh, how are you gonna get down to 150 pounds. Well, I’m going to go to the gym every day, not every day, six days a week, five to six days a week and I’m going to eat less sweets and cut out the breads.

So as we look at our goals, really trying to figure out what the real “Why” is the real reason for the goal AND determine if it’s yours. Um, the weight loss goal is mine and I’ve come a long way and I’m almost at the destination. So as you look at your goals and think about the drill down technique, maybe get an accountability partner or something (accountability partner, mastermind group, or coach) to work on it with you and it really takes about three times. Well, why, why is that your goal? And then ask a question of why, about the answer that you give. Why will you be more healthy? If you lose weight? Some people can lose weight and make themselves unhealthy and can take it too far. Um, why, why, why keep drilling into it? Why do you want to be able to press 350 pounds? I don’t know the answer that because I don’t want to, but asking that next question, keep going. Why? Why? Why now? How are you going to do it? Is kind of related, but it’s more in the execution if we can think through how to do it. It’s more likely we’re gonna get it done.
